I've just watched the most fantastically obnoxious show I've seen in years. It's ally mcbeal except instead of a simpering condom full of cartilage in the title role it's two swollen, self-satisfied ejaculates with slick hair. it's called 'franklin & bash' and I highly recommend it to folk who like the taste of bile. I think I must be getting old because I used to have a strong stomach for awful telly, in the same way as I used to be able to go on rollercoasters and not puke my ring; but as the years crank on my body just rejects it and it gets to the point where every character, every line, every crunching, grinding plot device turns my thoughts to blood.
Having said that, I watched it from start to finish, rapt, and will probably do so again if for nothing more than the sheer bollock-tightening awfulness of the thing.

Good day-
been kept busy this last couple of weeks working on a few bits for me cousin Stephen's 30th. Both were fun little projects (instructive too- not just on using Illustrator but on the 'process' and hitting the ol' deadline). Oh, and it was rounded out with a delightfully drunken birthday bash.

So for his Mum; she'd held onto a book he'd written and illustrated when he was about 8 years old that she wanted me to 'republish' as a kind of anniversary edition. The writing and illustrations were hilarious, so i kept them both, just cleaned them up and arranged them in a suitable template.

Aaaand for his sister, she wanted me to do a mock-up NME cover featuring the birthday boy himself in all his terrifying rock glory. Could have used a good bit more time on this one, but she was pretty happy with the result all the same, so happy out.

Later, internet.

one from the archives

Thought I'd stick up a couple older bits of illustration work I've done. This was stencilled and sprayed in me old gaff a few years back (I was sick looking at the plain old wooden backboard). Cropped from shot is some truly ill advised lettering down the left hand side. Below, detail of the angel.
That's all for now.

something cool for a sunday

Another quick one this; flyer-style design, possibly for some Sunday chillout setlist or a community event in a park. wanted something simple but still striking.

something simple, something upbeat, something colourful

Still not sure what form this blog is going to eventually take, but I am determined to keep content going up regular like, so we may have the odd misstep.
I'm gonna try and set myself little mini-tasks, I've decided. Little design competitions where I'm the only contestant and also the adjudicator.
Thought I should start with something simple, upbeat and colourful (ie- faaaar from my comfort zone) so I came up with this- a logo design for a cheesy retro-pop club night. Might do a mock-up flyer at some point to go with it. Like the colours. Don't like the name. Not mad original.

So i decided to give blogging another go.

It will hopefully get me back into the habit of writing, which would be nice. It could also serve as somewhere to post other bits of projects I'm working on which could, in turn, prompt me to actually finish some of them.

Who knows?

Hopefully it won't descend into incoherant swearing before disappearing utterly like my last effort.

Not promising anything mind.

(Ha, the writer tried to auto-complete that last sentance with the word “mind-blowing”. Oh Autocomplete, you are a cad.)
